Etsy, based out of Brooklyn, with sellers from over 150 countries, is an online marketplace for artisan and antique goods. The mission of Etsy is to enable people to make a living making things, and to reconnect makers with buyers. Founded in 2005 Etsy has really become the place to buy and sell all things homemade.
Shopping on Etsy is fun with an easy to navigate site that boasts a variety of search options, we especially love the shop local search. In this roundup we have gathered some great gift ideas for the audiophile, woods lover, and some items that we just thought were too cool not to share.

That speaker is lovely. Could it really sound okay?
it is probably made with little inexpensive speakers so not the best sound. but the idea and the look is fantastic, You could have a wood worker build something similar with the speaker of your choice. The listing says they are passive. Not amplified, so it is going to rely on the power your ipod can put out. Not a lot. But like I said you could do it with an amplified source as well.
got a bose sounddock? build a case around it...
i would love to see some more complicated editions to it. maybe a rectangular inlay on each side, but then you find out that one of them is actually a little pocket drawer that holds the ipod while in use, so you can set it and forget it.
This is my fave etsy seller:

There's a couple of great vintage clock radios, awesome-ly unusual chotskies, and always plenty of rad vintage clothes. Love it.
