As much as I would love to have a house big enough for my daughter to have her own playroom, it's just not viable in our townhouse. Instead our living room has become a shared space -- now filled with a mini-kitchen and a teepee! So, when I say that this is "Eva's Playroom", I really mean her designated corners.
Many of these items were collected over time or given as gifts including her teepee, which has to be one of her favourite toys. Not only does she love to read in it, but play hide-and-go-seek as she carefully closes each velcro strap before ripping it open again to yell "boo"!
Along with Eva's reading corner, we created a mini-kitchen area for imaginary play and crafting. Complete with the IKEA toy kitchen, table and chair set, various fruit and veggie sets and a growing collection of play foods, the final touch to Eva's kitchen was to frame and hang her own artwork.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I love your kitchen and dining table, Eva !
Clever way of stabilizing the bottom of the teepee, which I find is the biggest problem with them.
I had to comment on this - our daughter is also called Eva, also two years of age and her favourite play things are her teepee (which was my very first sewing project, as a gift for her second birthday) and her play kitchen. Living in Hong Kong in a small apartment, we have done pretty much the same: the teepee is cute and sufficiently unobtrusive that it can be up in our living room (actually, I love reading books in it too :-)) and her kitchen used to be in another corner of our LR. We have recently moved it to her own bedroom in exchange for a small arts & crafts table but could see it moving back into the LR as it gets played with less in her bedroom, it seems, and it never bothered me as it's super cute - a wooden toaster, anyone?
Anyhow, yeay for living with toddlers in small apartments and making it all work!!
I love this! I have a teepee tucked away for when my boys get bigger (they are one now).
As for sharing the space, maybe I will feel differently when they are older, but I couldn't imagine having a separate playroom, their stuff is in the living room, where the whole family hangs out together. It's the nicest, sunniest room in the house and a great place for us all to be together. Sure there are toys/mess around but it's life.
Anyone know where I can get a teepee like this or directions to make one? My four year old would LOVE it. Thanks.
Oh, it's perfect! The tee pee is wonderful. I'm glad you made a play area for her in your townhouse. What a wonderful spot for Eva!
LOVE. Teepee is so cute. I'd love to make one and have some directions. I love shared living room spaces. I feel like it's nice for the family to all be together and keeps kids things more tidy because of that.
I've seen this bookcase before....where is it from?
Love the cloud pillow? Did you buy or make it, and if you bought it, where?
Thank you for all of those how wrote such lovely comments :)
@ALAINNOTEBOOK our bookcase was bought from an Australia boutique, which recently closed down. I'm sure there are other stores that have similar ones. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
@DLU I bought the pillow case from an etsy store called: Robin and Mould http://www.etsy.com/shop/robinandmould
Amber
@zilla-mama and @alainnotebook you can find a teepee pattern/instructions in Meg McElwee's book "Growing up Sew Liberated".
Amber- great spaces! I'm going to save this link for inspiration while setting up my preschool. Thanks for sharing!
