Evelyn's Enchanted Ceiling Room

My Room

Name: Evelyn (2 months)
Location: Hong Kong

Forget the usual nursery shops. I wanted to create a unique, child-friendly but not child-oriented space. So I sourced the furniture on secondhand websites and updated them with a coat of new paint. I bought Andy Warhol prints and framed them and I asked my artistic sister to hand paint the ceiling and the wall.

The oil painting is by a Mexican artist; I like its child-like qualities but that it's not a children's painting. The room is not a one-stop-shop easy task, but it's well worth it. The "adult" pieces are complete with the final touches such as the mobile, the moose knitted head, mushroom lights, which are from a children store.

My sister Etienne, a graphic design student at Central Saint Martin's College hand painted the mural on the ceiling and the wall with storks and squirrels. I ordered Andy Warhol prints of his early illustration works, framed them and created a gallery wall above the cot. All furniture except the purple IKEA wardrobe is second hand.

Thanks Lucienne!
