Pop Culture humorist and author Charles Phoenix, along with KCMODERN, bring a live comedy slide show performance to the Airline History Museum for one night only, Saturday, Oct 4, 2008 at 8 pm. The show will also include a vintage stewardess fashion show by the “TWA Clipped Wings” and Mr. Phoenix’s spirited tribute to Kansas City’s landmarks.
Charles Phoenix super-charges the classic living room slide show by reinventing it into a hip and high octane celebration of classic and kitschy mid-century American life and style. His informed and often hilarious commentary, paired with the very best of his massive collection of flea-market found slides, will inspire your imagination and make your spirit soar!
From the kitsch to the classic, Charles Phoenix loves to celebrate mid-century life and style. His massive collection of flea market-found 1950s and 60s vintage slides inspire his live Retro Slide Show performances, "Slide of the Week" e-mails, and colorful coffee table books – including his latest, Americana the Beautiful: Mid-Century Culture in Kodachrome. Charles is also a recurring correspondent for the Martha Stewart Show and NPR’s Day to Day.
