Something that’s always bothered us about recycled toilet paper offerings is they're always wrapped in plastic or individually wrapped in paper. It just doesn’t make environmental, or in the case of single rolls, financial sense. So finally, here's a recycled toilet paper that's made of recycled content and comes in a recyclable package…
Ever-Green Toilet Paper comes in packs of 12 and is packaged in a box that reminds us of a soda or beer refrigerator case. Used rolls fit in a hole in the case and when all the rolls are used the entire box can be recycled. In addition to the smart packaging, no plastic, dyes or fragrances are used, and both the core and the box are made of 100% recycled fiber paperboard. The paper itself is made from used office paper and textbooks. And instead of being bleached with chlorine the paper is whitened using a mixture of recycled envelope shreds.
We haven’t tried the actually toilet paper yet to test its, err, comfort, but this is definitely a move in the right direction for recycled toilet paper products. A 12-pack case of Ever-Green is available at GreenLine Paper for $6.95 or at LetsGoGreen for $8.89.

now it's just a matter of deciding what's worse - buying plastic wrapped toilet paper from the grocery store, or buying paper wrapped toilet paper that needs to be shipped to you on a gas eating UPS truck!
They need to start selling this stuff in stores! Or maybe the more mainstream brands will get on board and start wrapping in paper as well!
With each roll at $.58, this isn't a very good price on TP. I can get the non-recycled stuff cheaper. They need to bring down the cost if they want to tempt people into trying it.

but all else aside, even if nonrecycled TP can cut down on it's packaging or use recyclable packaging, it'd still be a major step in the right direction.

I was about to say what mangosteen already has. I *want* to use recycled toilet paper. But the shipping slightly negates the greenness. Granted, it's killing less trees, but it's a give and take. I read somewhere that kleenex brand's parent company refuses to use recycled packaging, but i wish they would.
The cost of "green" items vs. non green items is not always an issue for some people. I agree that the shipping the thing stinks, but if you're going to buy toilet paper at a grocery store, that too was shipped. Is there such thing as local toilet paper? Haha. P.S. Kleenex brand is terrible for the environment.

Yes, it's true, all toilet paper is shipped in some way or the other, it's just the details that are different.
I didn't include this in the post, because I couldn't find which store, but when I was looking this up I did see pictures of Ever-Green being sold in a grocery store... Happy Hunting.

Shopping online for items can actually be greener if there is no retail outlet since the items are stored in a warehouse that probably has lower operating costs than a store that requires more lighting, limited storage space due to marketing and shopping needs, and the transportation costs involved in shipping to multiple different stores (and then your own transportation in getting there, unless you walk/bike).
I'd like to see this TP with more post-consumer content. Only a min of 20%? I don't need uber-white TP.
