A new Shel Silverstein book? No joke. The author and illustrator of books like The Giving Tree and Where The Sidewalk Ends defined my childhood and shaped my weird sense of humor, so I was unnaturally excited when I heard the news, but also incredulous. After all, Uncle Shelby passed away in 1999. It turns out that he left behind volumes of unpublished poetry. Every Thing On It is a collection of 145 poems selected from over 1,500 by Silverstein's family.
The excerpts featured on NPR's Morning Edition got us really excited. They are everything we have come to expect from Shel Silverstein, alternately tender and twisted, perfect for bedtime. Check out the NPR story and order your copy of Every Thing On It at Amazon. Learn more at the Shel Silverstein website.

YAY YAY! We read our children his twisted ABZ book and they loved it. Though no one tried to make their little fortune by taking out all their teeth for the tooth fairy. Whew. Thanks for this update.
