While surrounded by a red and pink Valentines explosion in the drugstore the other day, I joked with a friend that my post-holiday depression will only be alleviated by the beginning of my Valentine's Day blues. We marveled at just how easy it is to get caught up and forget that everyone likes simple surprises (to let us know we're on your mind) and that they are far more meaningful than any expensive or showy gift. We agreed that, in love, everyday moments are infinitely more important than a grand Valentine's Day gesture and that no one day, no matter how much forced romance you cram into it, will ever make up for a relationship without kindness. In other words, if you've been slacking in the love department, now, not February 14th, is the time to get going on improving your relationship one day at a time.
Here's one idea: a charming, simple origami page marker to slip into your honey's nightstand book. After all, it never hurts to be adorable right before bed.
