2012 was the year a couple of us over here at Apartment Therapy fell for the Android platform, both in smartphone and tablet flavors. The Google Nexus 7 tablet, the Samsung Galaxy SIII and the gigantic Note 1 & 2, Ice Cream Sandwich then Jelly Bean, Google Now...it was a very good year, with the mobile OS improving in just about every way. We can't wait for what 2013 has to offer after revisiting all the goodies 2012 brought us...

I agree, this is the year when Android really became a true alternative to iOS. I also moved over from the iPhone to the Galaxy SIII and loved the experience.
2 caveats for Android experience.
Firstly, getting the OS updates onto the phone. Not sure where the issue lies but it's very frustrating to have to wait for months to get the latest and greatest.
Secondly. the quality of Android apps is lower than the iOS apps. There are some great apps on the platform and the quality is improving but overall it is lower.
Would I switch back to the iPhone? No, i'm very happy in the Android world.
