We've been entertaining the idea of adding casters to a stainless steel kitchen workbench that we found on the side of the road. We've pretty much made up our minds, and while doing so, we realized that casters can work on almost anything!
Beds, ottomans, tv stands, computer desks, book shelves &mdash you name it (ok, well not everything, but almost!). The great thing about casters is that they come in all shapes and sizes so you have the option to choose the ones that best match your style, and more importantly, the piece of furniture you're adding them to.
We've rounded up some of our favorite caster posts from Apartment Therapy archives!

Have you added casters to furniture in your home?

i agree! movable furniture is happy furniture. i especially like the fourth pic.
I have them on my dining table, which was a little too short for the chairs I bought...makes it easier to move too.
I'm putting them on my antique mission style desk since it is too short to get a chair under and it has the added benefit of making it movable for when I turn my office into a guest bedroom.
I put a set on a steamer trunk to turn it into a rolling coffee table! I've also seen this done with an antique suitcase.
I put casters on my living room chairs, ottomans, shelving, pretty much everything. I just like to move things around a lot. A great site for casters is www.coolcasters.com
I have them on my tv stand (ikea). That way I can keep the tv in the corner and roll it out to the middle of the room when I watch it.
this really can change your life – as can a uninterrupted power supply device (big battery).
but be careful with light colored caster wheels. :-)
My flatpack Target room divider came with casters - and they're fabulous. I'm working on a renovation of my loft and I can experiment with different ideas so easily it is just amazing.
My TV stand is also on casters - love being able to move that too.
Glad you included some pretty ones, since I'm renovating...
This is timely - was just thinking I wanted to cut-down the legs on an over-sized end table to make into a coffee table for the kids game room - want to add casters - area is small so i think it'll be a good size and it'll be best if it rolls so it can be moved out of the way when needed. Had the best square coffee table from crate and barrel - it had casters - gave it away when I bought "real" furniture - now I wish I had it back for the kids to use
I love casters! I added some to my living room table, they were almost hidden under the edge of the table. For people that eat in front of the tv like me it's the best! I had a pouf with casters too, roll it in when you want to stretch your legs, and roll it out when you're done and you need more space when you have people over.
Casters should be standard to most furniture!
Oh and IKEA'S are the strongest and cheapest I have found.
