It's been a few years since the wave of "exercise balls as office chairs" hit the internet. We're looking to replace our current vintage chair as it isn't adjustable and can be a literal pain in the neck. Although higher priced super-customizable options are tempting, something simple like an inexpensive exercise ball has an equal appeal. But the real question is — is anyone still using them?

I did it years ago. I liked it for awhile, but I ultimately decided it wasn't that comfortable.
I have a big blue bouncy ball, and it's a lot of fun, but going 'boing!' or falling over gets distracting.
I used to when I worked at home, but I discovered my posture was even worse with the ball and I switched back to a chair.
I've known two people to use them at work. One was a borderline personality disorder librarian who eventually got laid off for yelling at kids during story time, and one was a Hippie Alaskan-Irishman who was prone to distracting coworkers without the ball. Oh, but the balls provided not so boring conversation for a day or two, which always livened up the office just a tick. I say go for it.
I use one at home. I like it. However, i'm a squirmy sitter. I have to adjust, and on a ball you can't.
i've used one for 4 years and have a saucer base, with no wheels, so it doesn't run away. i'm at my computer quite a bit (graphic design) and if the everything else is in check—monitor height, keyboard and mouse position, you should be good. i got mine because i have a crap lower back.
