The folks at Kid O have won scores of international design awards for their elegant educational children's toys. Have all the laurels gone to their heads? With their latest offering, they're making the bold claim that they can teach fractions to a three-year-old. Okay, maybe they're not quite guaranteeing they can help a preschooler master a mathematical concept that stumps more than a few grown-ups. What Kid O does say is that the Exploring Fractions toy "challenges children to explore fractions and math concepts using a tactile approach to learning."
Made of sustainable German beechwood with silkscreened colors, the Kid O is definitely pleasing to see and touch. If it's possible for any toy to make fractions fun, we'll bet on this one.
