We're gearing up to show you our revamped and stenciled bathroom on Friday but are still on the hunt for a extra long shower curtain. Even today as we strolled into IKEA to pick up other items for the home, we were silently hoping they'd have a shower curtain longer than 72 inches--unfortunately, no such luck. So once we got home, we hopped online, searching for a handful of extra long shower curtains.

i'm pretty sure that Marimekko makes some extra long curtains as well.
We installed the shower curtain rod extra high in a bathroom a couple of years ago and instead of getting an extra-long curtain I cut 3-foot lengths of ball chain (from the ceiling fan department at Home Depot) and used those to hang the curtain so that the top falls about 18 inches below the rod. An unexpected benefit: The curtain slides on the rod much more easily than it did with regular rings. I was afraid the ball chain would rust or discolor or something (although it was sold as stainless steel) but nearly 4 years later it still looks good.
If you're handy with the sewing machine, you can always add a solid piece of fabric to the bottom that matches the curtain, thus making the curtain as tall as you need.
Our shower rod is installed so that a 72" is too short and a 96" is too long... the 84" would work well. I would love a basic white waffle weave. The "Plisse" option above at the bedbathstore actually would be a workable option with the seersucker material being closet to what I'm looking for... although a 84" waffle weave or some skill with a sewing machine would be the ideal solution! Thanks for the sources!
I need a curtain that is extra wide! My tub is in the corner of my bathroom and I'm constantly getting water everywhere because it doesn't fully enclose the tub.....any ideas?
j Crew has a great white waffle-weave shower curtain that is also extra long
sorry - meant LL Bean
denisedenise, I know this is probably obvious, but why not use 2 matching shower curtains??? Extra volume would look luxe.
If I had a fabric shower curtain that was too short but that I really liked, I'd cut a foot off the bottom and insert a lengthening strip of fabric between the two pieces -- it could match the curtains or the color of the towels or any other decorative aspect of the room. Inserting a strip would look more planned than adding it to the bottom, and is only one additional straight seam.
denisedenise: I have the same thing going on, and we have two curtains.
LOVE the brown ones from BB&B. LOVE them!!!!!
I have the Marimekko Kaiku shower curtain and even with the rod nearly at the ceiling, the bottom touches the floor. I think they're all 79" long.
Target too...84" and 95"...

Bed Bath and Beyond has a hotel collection with longer shower/bath curtains. We installed ours on a track from IKEA that is attached to the ceiling, and it's long enough to fall at least 6 inches into the tub. They retail for ~$35.
I was so tired of my waffle shower curtain and recently I had a one made with Sunbrella fabric with worked out beautifully.
Americans seem big on shower curtains, I got rid of mine years ago and we now have a shower screen.
I bought the waffle curtain in the first photo. It looks lovely in the photo but is super disappointing in real life. My husband calls it our hospital curtain. It is really really thin and practically see through. I am tempted to buy a second one and sew them back to back from some extra weight.
@bristolian: what's a shower screen? I had a sliding glass door in my last house, and that's gone on the list of Things I Will Never Put Up With Again. A shower curtain can be tossed in the washer, but I never, ever got that stupid door completely clean. Gross.
www.Curtain-Tracks.com offers custom sized shower curtains in vinyl or nylon. They are not listed on the website, but are available by calling their toll free number.
I love the idea of extra-long shower curtains as a new way to enhance your bathroom. Here's another innovation, a bit pricier, but worth every cent, in my opinion:

Besides extra long shower curtains being available at BedBathStore; Bed, Bath & Beyond; and eBay, have a look at amazon.com as well. They are pretty reasonably priced there and shipping is quick. The suggestions of sewing a piece of matching fabric either in the centre or at the bottom of the shower curtain are also good ways of making the shower curtain longer in length, and would give it your own personal touch.
