We were given an old faded Little Tikes playhouse by my sister. We decided to give it a makeover with the Krylon fusion paint for plastic (we saw it suggested on Ohdeedoh). We painted it to match our house.
We live in a historic preservation district. We think the board will agree with our new color scheme! It was my first "house flip" and I think it turned out great!
Thanks Julie, so do we!

White Enamel Four-P...
This turned out cute! And I love that you made use of something that another might have trashed.
good advice. my daughter just got a hand me down little tikes house and I love the idea of personalizing it.
very CUTE! wonder how it will weather.
that's it! i must have one now! i have always avoided getting one of these hand-me-down houses because they look so bad when they fade....but this gives me inspiration! (guess what i will be doing this afternoon...)
I just fancied up my son's Cozy Coupe with the same paint (waited the seven days to cure and everything!) but I'm finding it still scratches with use.
It seems like I'm going to have to do periodic touch up's to keep it looking nice.
Has anyone else experienced this?
The minute after I read this post I scoured Craig's List until I found the exact same playhouse ($30)... which I will be picking up tomorrow and painting this weekend! Fantastic idea!!
LOVE this idea, you did a wonderful job!
Thanks for the compliments. I actually painted it over Labor Day weekend last year, so it has been though the winter. The roof got a few scratches when ice sat on top for several days. The paint will scratch off if gouged, but over all it still looks good. I have some left over paint for touch ups, but really only the roof needs it.
That's really good to know. We were gifted a used Little Tykes play kitchen and it's faded and pink and I wanted to remake it with paint but wasn't sure how it would work. I'm inspired!
I repainted a little tykes picnic table with this paint, and it started peeling before the end of summer... not sure what I did wrong. Maybe it just needed more cleaning before painting?
We were given a Little Tykes Cozy Coupe from a sweet woman down the road and we repainted it, using the plastic paints, like a classic car. White top, red body, with silver and black accents. My son loves the way it looks! I hand painted the letters on the back in black to stand out from the red.

Way to go; what a beautiful makeover! Also, way to represent OKC! Your house (the big one) looks gorgeous, too. Thanks for sharing!
Ohhh soo sweet, bless. What a lovelly recycling project.
If you wanted to protect from scratches - I would try some kind of clear overcoat, to hold the paint in place.
If I was starting from the beginning, I would start with a plastic primer undercoat, your paint shop should be able to provide advice on which is suitable, and probably a light sand to make it adhere.
In case anyone is still checking this post, here's my copy-cat makeover. (Thanks for the GREAT idea, drjulee!!)

Love it lisamfb!
Great job. I usually am WAY anti-Little Tykes plastic junk, but you did an amazing job and made me look at those little houses as something with potential rather than something to snort at. Thanks!
Genius! They both look great!
I just purchased a similar house and am going to paint it. Thanks for the inspiration and for saving me $300.
