As a writer for a large interior design blog as well as an avid appreciator of all things decor, I try not to take myself too seriously. A friend tipped me off to this hilarious Tumblr blog that pokes fun at some oft-overwrought design trends.
Avid Apartment Therapy readers will appreciate the fact that there are certain design trends, iconic pieces of furniture, and styles that tend to get overplayed. Like a good song that airs on the radio too frequently, things can lose their luster and even become annoying. F&@# Your Noguchi Coffee Table points directly at these things in a blunt and hysterical manner. To me, the best part is that the images are of really nice interiors, but peppered with captions like "F&@# your ornamental vintage typewriter" (lead image) and "F&@# your cardboard taxidermy" (above). Blogs like this remind me to take a step back and appreciate the nature of design. There are things that will be classically amazing, things that will be popular for a while and then phase out, and silly trends that we all buy into that we, perhaps, shouldn't! I'm also not ashamed to have some of these things around my own home!
