Small adjustments to existing storage space can double your space. I installed shelves in-between the shelves in my hall closet to increase the space. I also raised the hanging bar by 6 inches to add another shelf.
Look at yourfloor habits and get rid of the stuff you don't need/use. Not only will you have more space but you'll have less to clean/maintain.
Keep it clean. It's amazing how much bigger my bedroom looks without a pile of clothes on the bed or near the hamper.
