Does anyone know where the hammered silver lamp in the first picture is from (or a similar hammered silver lamp)?

You get the right drill bit. There are bits made specifically for tile, glass, or masonry that have reinforced tips to tackle the extra hardness and density of those surfaces. Generally, you want to keep a stream of water running over the item being drilled to cool the tip, which will extend its lifespan.

I've added drainage holes to several pots with a masonry bit -- very fast and easy.

You'd probably have to use a wet saw for ceramic. With plastic or melamine, you can just use a drill.

I'm also interested in the origin of that silver hammered lamp. . .searching google comes up with a few similar options, but not the same and over $400.

I know I've seen a very similar version of the lamp at Target a while back for a good price, not sure it's still in stock... sorry I can't seem to help locate it online. :( Check your local Target stores- maybe you'll get lucky!

I don't beleive it's hammered silver...
...It appears to be Mercury Glass.
