I'm fully aware that this wall treatment won't be for everyone, especially considering the mixed feelings that many have for fake flowers, but in these last throes of winter, I'm actually quite fond of the three-dimensional silk and plastic flower “wallpaper” of the Tensta Konsthall cafe in Sweden, designed by Front.

It feels graphic, airy and modern when it could easily have looked like a tacky dollar store holiday display (full disclosure: I actually kind of love tacky dollar store holiday displays — or maybe I'm going a little bonkers from not having seen a real flower in months). Shaw's Original Fir...
i like it
It reminds me of an art installation I once saw where you entered the room through an elaborate curtain of fake flower petals. I've always wanted to recreate that space.
sure looks cheerful! Looks like party decor - bridal or baby showers! Sweet 16. Prom.....
I think I would like it better with handmade paper flowers/origami.
I love it! Just what you need in February.
This reminds me of an old episode of Trading Spaces.
rainie! I was just about to say the same thing! One of the designers hot glued boxes and boxes of silk flower petals to bathroom walls.
Haha rainie - yes!
I do think it is charming though. Would be fun for a party or for a month or so.
It's cute and I totally love it, but...
1. I think it would be cuter if the flowers were stapled to the wall with a staple gun, rather than taped. (It would be less obvious and less likely to fall off.)
2. It would be a major pain in the @$$ to clean. You can't just take a vacuum or dust brush to a wall like that.
rainie u took the words right out of my mouth...the designer was heidi and the homeowners hated the design! it was not practicle at all for so many reasons.
I think it's a neat concept, but practicality-wise... what about dust? It would quickly ruin any charm this had in any space.
Makes me want to wear a dress!
And skip through the house barefoot.
(until they needed dusting -- then I'd be dragging my feet)
nice "Wallpaper"
I think it's lovely, but I agree with the cleaning comments. I can just imagine every petal of every flower having cat hair dangling from it. Oy... then it's not so pretty any more.
I think this would be adorable in a baby girl's nursery, maybe just as an accent wall. As for dust, if it's a small enough wall that's covered in this treatment, perhaps a dust buster on low could keep that in check.
I don't even want to think about keeping this clean and dustball-free.
I don't understand why so many AT posts start out with a disclaimer like this one does... "I'm fully aware that this wall treatment won't be for everyone". Can't it be assumed that with the variety of tastes amongst AT readers someone will always have something negative to say? Why does that even need mentioning?
It's a little much for the whole room, but would look great on one wall!
rainie beat me to it. Hildy flashback. And NOT a good one.
Pretty
NinaNina, it reminds me of an installation at the SF MOMA about 10 years ago that has stuck with me, it was like it was raining flowers or flower petals. I've always wanted to do that once I had an appropriate space.
I thought it was Hildy and the grass on the wall. Fine in a retail space, not in a house.
Am I the only one who is thinking, Purple Rain?
Love it.
