Fall Fun Fest: Halloween Party Ideas

Over the past few years my friends and I have enhanced our annual pumpkin carving party with new Halloween inspired decor and treats. From decorating to delicious, homemade goodies these are a few of my favorite ideas to get into the spirit of the season!

Hand-made Halloween Garland String some Halloween garland around your house, like these clever pacman cutouts from Poppytalk. All you need is some basic construction paper, scissors, and a glue stick to get creative with your own characters.

Candy Jars Halloween is all about the candy. This idea from House of Smiths is a great way to decorate functionally. Jazz up an assortment of glass vases by filling them with a few of your favorite candies and take it to the next level with hand-crafted labels. Consider other containers, such as recycled mason jars, embellished with orange ribbon tied around the rim.

Pumpkin Variety Centerpiece One of the simplest options for seasonal decorating is a pumpkin collection that embraces autumn, as opposed to screaming Halloween. Some pumpkin patches offer a variety of sizes and colors to choose from. As long as you don't carve them, these gourds can last up to a month, or more, depending on their size and species.

Zombie Pumpkins This simple idea from Martha Stewart is a less intense approach to pumpkin carving. With a few simple steps you can create a collection of zombies for the front porch.

Haunted Halloween Gingerbread Houses Instead of waiting for Christmas to make your gingerbread house, why not make a haunted one in October? My boyfriend's little nephews did a spectacular job decorating this one, from the Cocoa Crispie paved driveway to the M&M tiled roof. This is a great way for kids (or adults) to get hands on without using carving tools.
