Hand-made Halloween Garland String some Halloween garland around your house, like these clever pacman cutouts from Poppytalk. All you need is some basic construction paper, scissors, and a glue stick to get creative with your own characters.
Candy Jars Halloween is all about the candy. This idea from House of Smiths is a great way to decorate functionally. Jazz up an assortment of glass vases by filling them with a few of your favorite candies and take it to the next level with hand-crafted labels. Consider other containers, such as recycled mason jars, embellished with orange ribbon tied around the rim.
Pumpkin Variety Centerpiece One of the simplest options for seasonal decorating is a pumpkin collection that embraces autumn, as opposed to screaming Halloween. Some pumpkin patches offer a variety of sizes and colors to choose from. As long as you don't carve them, these gourds can last up to a month, or more, depending on their size and species.
Zombie Pumpkins This simple idea from Martha Stewart is a less intense approach to pumpkin carving. With a few simple steps you can create a collection of zombies for the front porch.
Haunted Halloween Gingerbread Houses Instead of waiting for Christmas to make your gingerbread house, why not make a haunted one in October? My boyfriend's little nephews did a spectacular job decorating this one, from the Cocoa Crispie paved driveway to the M&M tiled roof. This is a great way for kids (or adults) to get hands on without using carving tools.

Ercol Bar Stool
well I was going to do some Nanowrimo research tonight, but now I have to go play pacman.
;)
I love all of these Halloween ideas! It seems like every year more and more ideas come out. This year I have seen no carve pumpkin techniques, and on Freshome we've had some ideas for dark interiors (for those that aren't Halloween fans.. but love the idea of it!) Thanks for this post.. always great ideas on Apt. Therapy. :)
