I think the first one is fabulous. It looks like a real piece of art.

I love geneology. Forgive me for the pop culture reference, but I always thought it'd be really cool to have a family tree display like the one in Sirius Black's house in "Harry Potter" (a tapestry with all of the names and relations in the family, going back ages and ages). Minus the burns eliminating the "muggles" in the tree, of course.

I love love love these! Just a little note to anyone who wants to do this -- you probably should use photocopies of precious pictures if they are to be on display. Even if a wall doesn't get direct sunlight, over years, the UV rays will fade and otherwise deteriorate a photo, not to mention other sorts of environmental damages. A good photocopy/scan on display will allow you to keep the original safe in a acid-free environment (album or photo box).

The first and third ones are particularly beautiful. Good job!

The third family tree is absolutely gorgeous. I totally want to find a way to replicate that in my home. My mother gave me a huge box full of old family pictures, granted I don't know a lot of the people, I would still love to display these beautiful black and white shots. As soon as I saw this post, I could feel the wheels turning in my brain. Thanks for the post.

These are so cool! Great way to have art and family photos in the house. And probably fun for guests to check out.

My aunt just gave everyone a scrapbook with some amazingly beautiful b&w photos. I wasn't sure how to display them without looking like a page from the Pottery Barn catalog. The first photo is nice, the chart really makes it. And the second photo is AWESOME! The third and fourth are a little too cheesy for me and the fifth is really sweet, very Martha :)

One thing we've always done is to redecorate the Christmas tree, the day after Christmas, removing the holiday specific ornaments and replacing them with small frames that contain pictures of loved ones. Sort of a 'living' family tree between Christmas and New Year's Day. It's an annual ritual we've come to love.
