This darling brother and sister must have wonderful sleeps in their sweet shabby-chic and modern rooms. Cozy, light, warm, subtle pops of color and thoughtful vintage accents combined with Emily's (Finley and Jackson's mom) spectacular taste and creative aesthetic make this tour memorable.
Living in a small house now filled with both toddler and baby paraphernalia, I'm always drawn to the creative ways that others in similar situations find to decorate their homes for the holidays. While I personally feel the need to have a live tree for the holidays no matter how small or scraggly, I'm definitely enamored by these creative and space-saving tree solutions.
I'll never forget when my then two-year-old burst out with the words "I want some handsome prince." WHAT??!@?#? From whence did this concept even arise, and at such an early age? Do you have a super girly girl despite your most fervent efforts to create a well balanced environment? Well I have the perfect library list for you.
Some of my favorite gifts growing up were the gifts designed to make, build, and create. I will forever remember the happy hours spent designing and building wooden ornaments (a DIY woodworking project my dad came up with), handcrafting ornate letters with my Hello Kitty stationary set, and sewing pillows with my sewing kits. Check out these 10 great kits to buy or for inspiration to DIY your own kits this holiday season.
Flo and Wendell may be stars of a new children's book by William Wegman, but they're not letting the fame go to their heads. You may picture Wegman's iconic dogs as pampered pooches being fed beef bonbons all day long. No sir! They are salt (lick)-of-the-earth types who like to get their hands, er, paws dirty, preferably in sweet, sweet cookie dough.
Meet Flo and Wendell. They're puppies, they're sister and brother and they get along...sometimes. William Wegman's first children's book in a decade adds a painterly twist to his trademark dog photographs and stars two of his own, lovable pups.
Name: Blair Elizabeth Location: Glenview, Illinois
This room, which we renovated from an old music studio, is really tiny. It had no closet so we built the shelving and clothing rack and hung up some yellow gingham curtains for closet doors. I'm actually pretty proud of all the re-purposing and recycling I managed in here.
What a pleasure it was to do this bedroom, from the wallpaper to the fabrics and the furniture: fun fun fun! There is nothing predictably child like about this room, you surely won't find Spider-man or Mickey mouse on the wallpaper here. I wanted to create a vibrant space that could grow with him.
