When my two year old developed an obsession with cars, trucks, buses, tractors (all things wheeled), I searched and searched for a "road rug" for him to drive on; you know, the rugs designed with ribbons of black with white dashes winding all around, sometimes with scenes of farms or cities printed on them. After a long search, I was relieved to save some money by finding we already had a really cool rug road right under our noses:

My dad was a pretty rad guy, but he never hacked my video games so I could play them as a female character. What girl wouldn't love to save the dudes? Well, that's exactly what game developer Mike Mika did for his daughter Pauline, and he's released the patch so you can share it with your kids too. More

I wanted to create an eclectic space that captured my daughter's super glam diva style as well as my son's Batman/superhero/any hero persona.

I was thrilled how this ballerina party turned out for my 3 year old daughter Stella's birthday. It was a party full of relatively simple, inexpensive DIY decor projects that made for a big impact. When Brooke and Luke found out they were expecting a baby boy, they decided to turn their office into a nursery. The problem was, it felt like more of a "man room" than a little guy's nursery with its dark, knotty pine walls. So Brooke and Luke decided to roll up their sleeves and work a little magic with primer and paint. It was a lot of work, but the end result is stunning:

Location: Virginia
Room Size: 10' x 12'
Kate and her husband live in a historic neighborhood in Virginia in a house that is over 100 years old. When they decided they would need a nursery, they turned to a small guest room that needed some serious TLC. After removing plaster, trim with lead paint, windows, and carpet that was glued to the floor, they spent an entire year reconstructing the room with new windows, drywall, refinished floors and crown moulding. With this blank slate, they set about creating this beautiful and bright space for the little boy they were now expecting.
Oh, I am impatient for spring! Since I live in San Francisco where one season blurs into the next, my main craving is for more sunlight. And spring vegetables, spring dresses, and lots and lots of bunnies..
