Ercol Bar Stool
China isn't as grand as it was maybe 20-30 years ago. I've tried selling my set that is an open stock pattern with no takers.
People just don't go that fancy anymore.
I have an antique noritake handed down by my husbands grand parents.. I am just waiting for a friend who has heard about Noritake to take it out... One day!!
When my children were growing up, we ate on the china at least twice a month. It taught them to be comfortable and knowledgeable in social graces. They have commented over the years that it was a good lesson.
I use my Noritake at the holidays. I don't care that it's overkill for 3 people or that cleanup would be so much easier on dishwasher-safe plates (mine aren't due to gold inlay). It's not antique, it's probably not valuable, and I don't care. I love having and using it. Makes my holidays more special :)
I use my china everyday--I don't have the storage to allow to just let something sit forever to bust out twice a year. Makes the most humble of meals during the week seem so much more delicious. Of course, there is only 2 of us so clean up is easy...
