A sure bet is to pair a citrus color with bright white trim or furnishings, which creates a breezy, cheerful energy. But lemon yellows can also be beautiful set against other bright shades like turquoise and pink. Orange, paired with deep red, like the flesh of a blood orange, looks fun but also chic. And lime green walls, while tough to pull off, can be perfect when paired with rough textures or subtle pattern.
I love the look of these walls, but have never tried to actually live with such bright paint. How about you? Do you have citrus-inspired paint in your home?

I know these colors aren't for everybody, but I love them and could totally live in any of those rooms. Color is my salvation during dreary northern winters, and I am always looking to add it wherever I can.
I am always an avid for color; however, when I saw this post I thought the color may be a little much. After further review, I fell in love with how the color brings so much uniqueness and interest to the space. A bold move, but well done. It is always fun to take a chance.
One wall in our apartment rental kitchen is covered in tall, flat cabinets (one is floor to ceiling) which the previous tenant had painted alternating bright orange and bright teal. Before she left, she painted them all orange - they would have otherwise been painted eggshell white by the landlord. I love it - my kitchen windows only get indirect light, and it helps make it sunny and energetic.
wow. the first picture has so much of that citrus yellow bouncing around the room that i can't imagine anyone looking good in it. it actually looks like the photo was taken through a yellow filter.
@caseoftornados -- your cabinets are most excellent. Buy that former tenant a martini.
LOVE all these! Reminds me of summertime! I really like the wallpaper in the 7th picture.
the first one reminds me of the bedroom color that we here when we first moved in. It was the first room to be painted, as the yellow was just too glaring bright.
I wouldn't need coffee to wake me up in the morning with those colors.
I work from home and my small home office is quite tangerine, white and wood accents. I love it. And my bedroom across the hall is a granny smith apple color with white accents. I spend so much time at home that white walls would drive me crazy.
I like looking at these although I wouldn't want to live with them. But they are beautiful, cheery photos (especially in the middle of winter.)
I like the second and last pics best. I really like that little painting with the green wall.
I'm getting ready to paint a portion of my studio a slightly more subtle citrus yellow, and I couldn't be more excited. I'm really looking forward to something that'll brighten the place up during our very long, gray winters.
My current place as well as my past place both had walls with similar colors. Both had lime green walls that I love for the kitchen. My new place also has a yellow entry way with some orange accents. Trying to describe it to someone, I finally likened it to a mango - the yellowy and greenish skin with the richer orangish flesh on the inside. Yep, that pretty much describes my house
