Farmers' Market Inspiration: Citrus on the Walls

Farmers' Market Inspiration: Citrus on the Walls

I loved Aaron's post a little while back about citrus-toned furnishings for the new year; then this weekend at the farmers' market, with all the gorgeous blood oranges, meyer lemons, and giant pomelos beckoning, I got inspired to think about citrus colors on a larger scale. How about citrus-painted walls?

A sure bet is to pair a citrus color with bright white trim or furnishings, which creates a breezy, cheerful energy. But lemon yellows can also be beautiful set against other bright shades like turquoise and pink. Orange, paired with deep red, like the flesh of a blood orange, looks fun but also chic. And lime green walls, while tough to pull off, can be perfect when paired with rough textures or subtle pattern.

I love the look of these walls, but have never tried to actually live with such bright paint. How about you? Do you have citrus-inspired paint in your home?
