On our growing list of things to do, and we don't mean laundry, is taking a day trip out to visit Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House in Plano, Illinois. This collection of images by Paul Clemence caught our attention in the Dec/Jan issue of Dwell: Both black-and-white and color photographs taken "at different times of day and different seasons, showcase the many moods of the house that's been called a poem."
A great gift, we think, especially if given with the promise to take a tour of the modernist masterpiece ($20 per person).
Farnsworth House, the book, is available from Schiffer Books ($34.95).

That has been on my list of things to do for a very long time as well...
Pictures from the book are on display at Luminaire right now and the book is on sale there.
Well worth going too...I was never convinced of the value of "modern" architecture until I visited the Farnsworth house. Being there and walking through it and it's surroundings gave me a strong appreciating of this type of architecture. A must see.
