Did fall sneak up on you? Are your rooms still feeling summer-y and breezy? Are you looking to add some fall coziness fast? These four easy ideas will never let you down and are perfect if you just want a cozier home for you or if you’ve got entertaining plans on the horizon!

1. Layer your soft stuff

Everyone knows as soon as the blankets, throw pillows and other soft home accessories come out, a room gets an instant boost of cozy. But this year, don't just spread your soft things around the room, really focus on mixing and layering soft elements for powerful punches of curl-up-able spots that will really put an exclamation point on the feeling of cozy in your space.

2. Lower the lights and make them have a warm tone

Make sure your lamp and light fixtures have light bulbs that throw off a nice warm tone, turn them down low, add in some candle or fire in a fireplace and get ready for a room that feels super warm, welcoming, cocooning and cozy.

3. Make your seating arrangement a little tighter

We advocate a smart arrangement of all your furnishings so traffic flow in your space is the best it can be, and certainly keep that in mind when employing this tip. But if there's room and you're so inclined, inch your seating arrangement furniture pieces ever so closer to themselves. You might find that the proximity ups the cozy factor.

4. Enclose yourself

If you find that your big open room or open floor plan is hindering the feeling of coziness, work on enclosing a certain area to mimic the coziness of a nook. You can do that with dividers (both standing or hanging) or even with big, leafy plants you place just so.
