The BlueLounge StudioDesk seems to have inspired a whole niche of DIYers who admire the cable-clutter hiding modern desk. Like this father and son team who constructed their own from scratch!

Over at Reddit, Vanderstein and his father put their woodshop to good use, constructing a desk with laptop use in mind. Like the original inspiration, their desk has a horizontal slit opening for easy access to all the power and USB cables. Inside, a power strip is hidden in a spacious storage compartment; a lone power cable from the power strip is all that is visible leaving the desk. I could only dream of being so fortunate!

Check out the complete step-by-step of the project here.

awesome desk great project
This is a superb design! I have been thinking about doing something like this, but with a desktop computer. the problem I have had in finding a design is the lack of access it would provide to the desktop once everything is in its place. This design would be a great start to that as well.
BEAUTIFUL! Would you sell your plans? I would love to get my Dad to make me one.
Very nice. The one thing that could make both of these desks better would be the outgoing power cord concealed in one of the back legs like the Ikea Nordli nightstand seen here: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40219285/
This desk is nice but I like this one better, it has a few more built in features...
