It won't re-grout your bathroom or make your bed, but our little stamp kit is one of our favorite DIY tools. The simple, unassuming type is perfect for a wide range of projects from labeling and organizing to making and addressing cards (ahem, Valentines).
Our kit, which allows for 6-lines of type and contains 2 different sizes of capital letters, was $32.99 from Staples. For project ideas, check out our post, 3 Super Easy DIY Thank You Card Ideas, a tutorial on design*sponge for making stamped business cards, or search "stamp kits" on marthastewart.com.

you can also make it a bit more DIY buy buying some letterpress type and making your own stamper:
you can get a fairly cheap set of type on ebay, just make sure you get a full character set:

I got 1 & I love it - use it for my business cards at work, (as contract I only get blank cards), & since I changed positions I can easier stamp up new ones.
I've also used it for advertising my friend's newspaper column quickly & discretely on the subway.
