You don't have to be a kid to love these albums, but here are a few that start getting heavy rotation in our house even before those last turkey leftovers are consumed. Much to our husband's chagrin we LOVE holiday music and we hope you'll share some of your favorites with us.
• John Denver and the Muppets, A Christmas Together - perhaps no other album makes us as nostalgic for childhood Christmases.
• Jackson Five, Ultimate Christmas Collection - especially good to have on hand for spontaneous holiday dance-offs.
• Vince Guaraldi, A Charlie Brown Christmas - perfect background music for holiday baking, gift-wrapping, etc..
• Sufjan Stevens, Songs for Christmas - one of the few holiday albums we've discovered as an adult that has worked its way into our heart.
• Various Artists, Croon & Swoon; The Classic Christmas (and Croon & Swoon 2!) - all the classics (Rudolph, Frosty, Santa Clause Is Coming To Town) all in one place.

We've got an Alvin & the Chipmunks Christmas album playing in my son's room and then Raffi's Christmas cd in the car. I love both so much.

my daughter and i love "a cartoon christmas" and "a cartoon christmas too." i bought these 2 compilation cds about 10 years ago and we play them nonstop in the car and at home. the cds have all the songs from our favorite holiday specials - heat miser and snow miser, we're a couple of misfits, the grinch, and the muppets.
john denver and the muppets is the ONLY christmas album i've ever listened too. it's just the best! love it

Sufjan Stevens 'Songs for Christmas' box set is the best!
Oh, you nailed it with John Denver and the Muppets. We listen to that almost every day. There are songs I love (Alfie the Christmas tree) and songs the kids love (Piggy Pudding?!!).
OMG, I had the Alvin and the Chipmunks christmas album when I was a kid. I loved that thing! I didn't know it was still available. I'm going to order it right now!
The John Denver album has been replaced in vinyl at least twice and I think each of us "children" now has a CD version. Love it!
I saw the John Denver and the Muppet's album cover and started yelling "THAT WAS MY FAVORITE ALBUM—EVER". *sign* they don't make um like they use to.
We play Harry Connick Jr.'s Christmas album as well as traditional songs from the Vienna Boys' Choir Holiday albums.

Oh my goodness, we listen to sooo much Christmas music in our house. There are the classics like Big Crosby and Perry Comeau, and A Charlie Brown Christmas (Vince Guaraldi Trio) is another favorite. My husband loves the Carpenters Christmas album because that's what his family listened to when he was a kid, and I love Ann Murray's Christmas album for the same reason. Diana Krall's Christmas album is excellent; we love that, and I also love Amy Grant's Home for Christmas album. That to me is Christmas! I know there are more I am not thinking of. There are so many good ones!

I don't have kids, but when I was a kid, my dad would play all the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas CDs on repeat on Christmas morning while we all opened our presents and had cinnamon rolls for breakfast. They are still my favorite Christmas albums. I could listen to their rendition of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" on repeat all day!
(BTW, beckosmo, my dad loves Boney M too! I'm always amazed when other people know about them!)
