With 2010 almost here and a bit more time for last-minute shopping, I thought it would be appropriate to share a few of my favorite design books published this year.
There are so many great design resources on the web (obviously!) but it's a treat to thumb through these beautifully illustrated over-sized books. (Not to mention you can't gift the web.) The styles range from the ultra glamorous, HUE, to the rustic interiors of, Romantic Irish Homes, all celebrating excellent design and offering outstanding eye candy.
• 1 The Find by Stan Williams, 240 pages, $19
• 2 Romantic Irish Homes by Robert O'bryne Shaw, 175 pages, $27
• 3 Perfect English Cottage by Ros Byam, 192 pages, $24
• 4 Shabby Chic Interiors: My Rooms, Treasures and Trinkets by Rachel Ashwell, 190 pages, $24
• 5 HUE by Kelly Wearstler, 288 pages, $33

Curious to hear what readers think about The Find...
I found The Find disappointing.....the best photo was the cover, ideas...uninspiring.
I can't get enough of Stan Williams and I absolutely loved The Find - brilliant stories and writing supported by tons of marvelous photos. I highly recommend this book!
The Find continues to inspire and charm--and everyone who's picked it up off my coffee table has bought a copy. We love Stan's personal and encouraging text and the photos are jaw-dropping.
Congrats to Apartment Therapy for their excellent selection!
Hands Down my favorite 'find' of 2008...Stan inspires me with every single page in his book!
A must-have in any decorators arsenal.
Best design book from 2008, hands down!
The photography is so beautiful and filled with page turning adventures from homes all over the US.
A must buy for the holidays!
The Romantic Irish Homes book looks like it would be lovely. I can't wait to look for it the next time I'm in my favorite book shop.
These books all look wonderful.
I am completely in agreement with your choice of The Find. The homes pictured within shine with individual personality and good design. A timeless book and an inspiration for re-use and thrift with panache. Great choice!
Vintage Laundress gave me the scoop on this book. I cannot wait to get my hands and eyes on it !
merry merry,

I loved The Find, read it cover to cover twice (the jewel is in Stan's narrative), you'll never look at shops and flea markets quite the same way again. That book alone has helped me more, on the path to completing my house, than any other design book I've ever purchased. I simply feel more confident now about my (occasionally quirky) choices.
Shabby Chic, what can one say? If you love it, you love it, and if you don't... well (I'm in the don't love it crowd).
Not a Kelly Wearstler fan though Hue really does have some marvelous color inspiration.
I thumbed through the book on Irish homes, and thought it was lovely, I didn't buy it because I've spent extensive time there but did pick up a few good reminders on interiors from the book (fabric choices and upholstery details).
Congrats to author Stan Williams on a fabulous book!
I have applied some of his tips to my apartment and often find myself flipping through THE FIND when I need inspiration or just need to get lost in decorating heaven.
When's the next book coming out???
