We were excited to click over to the Post Family's website this morning and find some new prints designed by our very own house tour host, Alex Post. The Suburbia Series is an homage to standardized living. Writing about these restaurant prints ($40 for 4) Alex says, "My favorite restaurants, when stripped of their signage, look exactly the same!" Click below for more.

Here's what Alex has to say about his Lot print ($15): "I stood in a giant parking lot outside of Springfield, IL and thought to myself, this thing is stupid. There were only 3 businesses in operation in this massive strip mall in the middle of no where. Thank god one of them was a bass pro shop!!"

This Ridge Valley Print ($25) is an imaginary topography of 20 identical ridges and streams weaving into one another.

i love the prints in the first two photos! i think they're funny. maybe because i grew up in suburbia too. the third one, i can't really see too clearly.
I love these prints. And it's not just cause I'm Alex's favorite uncle. I've always believed suburban development was simply printing making on a large scale. They're stamped out. And maybe like limited-edition prints, they should be numbered. "Hey, man, I grew up in 23/200. How 'bout you?" That would at least acknowledge what they are. So, Alex, y'all go forth and multiply. Your work is beautifully disturbing.
