- What I Love About My Small Home:
- We love that our rental space actually FEELS like a home! It's an old house with all the trimmings and details that we love like the fireplace, moulding, galley kitchen (now turned into the bathroom). Overall it is a warm and welcoming space to live in and to have guests in.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- Our biggest challenge has been figuring out where to put all of our big furniture in such a small area. We've acquired a lot of thrift store furniture finds that are meant for much bigger spaces. We gave some of our furniture new purposes - for example a mid-century modern credenza was turned into storage in the bedroom instead of being placed in the living room. The size was right and we needed more storage there.

Sweet space! Can you please tell me where you got the bedside lamp?
Uh, disagree.
I love the colors, patterns and fabulous modern art! Lots of fun ... I'd love to hang out here! I favorited it.
This ones my fav! yessss!
Majorly disagree, it's a super cute place with thoughtfully curated accessories. Sounds like someone here is a Monday morning meanie!
I like the slipper chair in the living room. From what I can see of it, your kitchen looks teeny tiny! I have a small kitchen, too.
@Mello1, can't you find somthing nice or positive to say? Some people put their own unique stamp on places and don't strive for "stylish."
This is a wonderful blend of old and new. Just my style. Don't listen to the negative (and not constructive) comments. I wish I could see more pictures :)
It looks cute and put together. If one is going to say a critique one should do it in a constructive way.
I like this. It's cute, it's small...the couch is fantastic. My only gripe is that people keep using instagram to take photos and while you think it looks good, it doesn't. It actually adds misinformation because then you can't tell whether the sofa is really mustard or just a pale canary. And the kitchen walls...are they beige, yellow, or what? I can't tell because instagram adds a tint to it.
AT should add to the rules that you can't use instagram or otherwise alter your photos in a way to completely change their colors. It's one thing to use Photoshop and make things brighter if you don't get much light. It's another to use instagram and completely change the photo coloring itself.
Adorable, and I am in love with those vintage kitchen canisters!
I adore all the character and personality that are in the spaces this year! Also, your couch, I want it.
I quite like this place. It feels charming and comfy. I do agree with the poster above though, the instgram effect not only makes it hard to see the actual colours used, but I suspect it could be why the place seems so warm and charming in the first place. I guess I will never know but I do love the fireplace. Very nice. :)
I agree about the Instagram - it's really not doing the space justice. And it seems like a cute place.
I don't agree that someone should just post that a home isn't stylish. It might not be your personal style, and it might not win design awards or be featured in some glossy mag - but it clearly has Faye & her partner's style (unlike some entries that looked like they were, or actually were, staged to be sold.)
You don't have to like every entry (I certainly don't) and it's one thing to say you feel this space looks like many others, it's another to say it's not stylish and that the owner is "style challenged." That's just rude and not constructive. Let's see your pad MELLO1.
Love the mantle and the little eating nook in the kitchen (great little shutters!).
Love this style. Vintagy without being over the top.
I have to say, the sofa is stunning - let's see it! It's a case of the cushions kind of taking over the party there. I'd move the sofa to the wall opposite the fireplace and rearrange the room accordingly. I'd anchor the sofa between side tables or something else to show it off. As you can tell, it's my favorite piece.
I actually like the apt, especially as a rental when you can't paint. But yeah, I feel like the fireplace is shown off to perfection but the sofa is an afterthought.
i would have preferred to see un-instagram-ed photos as well, looks cute it didnt need any photo processing!
I love this. long time.
artsy and cool!
i agree about the effects in the images but i usually get bored with some places that don´t look real. I try to keep my own home stylish but if you are not a profesional it would look like this!! i mean, i could live relly happy in here!!! it has its own style!! good for you guys!
Faye, if you come by this post I am *dying* to know where you got the hand sculpture thing on the mantel. It's an ASL 'f', right? Would love to know the source on that!
I really like what I can see - I wish you'd been able to back up a little and take photos at a greater distance though, I feel like I'm not seeing much of each room. Like, where is the credenza in the bedroom you mention? It's probably because of all the walls and angles - a wide-angle lens would have really come in handy here!
I do like your little pop art collection a lot.
Love the layout sketch!
