The pulls, which are very similar to the ones in the first image, aren't too easy to see in the photo of the SATC kitchen (Image 3). Seen onscreen, set designer Ondine Karady's hardware choice appealed to me visually and, given that I'm barely 5'2", practically.
Knobs and pulls are the kind of detail that can single-handedly update and upgrade a kitchen. I think I am partial to horizontal rather than vertical pulls, but I've also found myself eying the knobs at Anthropologie and wondering where I could use them. I also like the lack of hardware created by cutting holes in the top cabinet's glass fronts in the the beach house in Image 2.
What do you prefer?

I like horizontal best but it depends on the cabinets and the pulls themselves.
It's not a good concept for a survey because as noted above, it depends on the cabinets, pulls and general style of the kitchen. Horizontal pulls and knobs are popular for a reason: resilient, easy to use and less likely to hurt your fingers.
Can anyone tell me where the plant containers in the first image are from? Thanks in advance.
This is interesting. We are redoing our kitchen and I have yet to pick out hardware because I can't make up my mind. I am drawn to tab pulls but not sure if they will match the kitchen. I don't care for the big bars and am partial to knobs (I think.) the new dwell magazine on kitchens has a lot of good photos. 100 of them.
so I guess the answer is, it depends.
I'm just not a fan of the big bars. I've seen them in contexts I like but most of the time they just look too heavy/cluttered
