It's hard to classify Felix Populi, but we'll try. Conceived by Ben Sander and starring his alter ego, Brini Maxwell, Felix Populi is a homewares company that does big, bold, happy pillows and housewares straight out of the 50's. Ben is working on being much more than a designer. In a serious and fun way, he wants to be the love child of Martha Stewart and Jonathan Adler. Take the tour and watch Brini on video below....
At it's core, the pillows set the tone. They are "mod" and "free spirited" and really well made. These are not Chinese imports. All the designs have a lot going on in them and the newest ones (in the second pic up top) are painstakingly appliqued with sequins. All of them can be purchased through the website and also at a number of stores including Prudence Design and Jonathan Adler in NYC.
The Pillow Pitch:
"All Felix Popuil Designer Collection pillows are hand sewn and constructed in the U.S. Each is heirloom quality, requiring several hours of painstaking work performed by skilled artisans in NYC's renowned "Garment District". Inserts are merrowed along all four edges and stuffed with a 95/5 feather/down mix. Hidden nylon coil zippers ease removal for dry cleaning. With proper care these pillows will last for many years."
