But actually dipping it "would have required large amounts of wasted paint and a container big enough, which wasn't going to happen" says Jon, so he went with a spray:

Ah, the old "dipping" dilemma. Many things in life would look great if dipped, but there's always the issue of how much paint (or other dipping solutions) is needed to dip. This masking then spraying idea solves a lot!

In addition to spraying and dipping, there's the old standby, pouring. I've made some lovely "old" finishes by pouring dilute solutions of paint over surfaces. Terrific faux verdigris, for example. The surplus solution can be collected and reused by standing the pouree in a basin. . . .
