I've told you about my collection of tiny deer, my surprising love of hot pink wool blankets, and my even more surprising need for glitzy hot pink Christmas decorations. Amazingly, The Purl Bee has combined those loves into one perfect winter project. If I had any knitting skills, my deer would be frolicking under these sweet hot pink and white trees as we speak..

The Whit's Knits features over at The Purl Bee always fill me with such knitting envy, but this one hit me hard. Look how perfectly nubby those trees are! They kill me. I think they would look wonderful kept plain, in classic snowy white, but I am a sucker for asterisks (and hot pink, of course). The asterisks give them that retro-modern space-age feel I associate with classic Christmas specials, and I'm tempted to sew them all over a homemade stocking. Wouldn't that be sweet and simple?

If you're able to treat yourself to some knitting time this winter — feet up, cocoa at hand — you'll find everything you need to make these felted trees right here, including pattern, material list, and many helpful photos. The two-tone asterisk tutorial is handy for those of us who are more sewers than knitters. If you end up doing this project, please let us all see your trees!
