One rad dude with his late 80's tech toys. The only thing we'd imagine using amongst his array of electronics is the calculator; fascinating to note these all were ubiquitous items in households not too long ago, but have been mostly phased out with the march of time.

To be fair they haven't all been phased out, they've just been replaced with something else or something better. We still use all of these items now, just in different forms and if it were now and you had the choice of all of those items from then or nothing now, I'm pretty sure they'd have some use still now.

and now all sit in a landfill, used for 3 or 4 years but existing nearly forever.
I wouldn't mind getting an old school boom box to mod into a zune dock.
Not only are all of those items obsolete, they are all apps on my iPhone!
30 years from now they'll be goofing on our gadgets we have today. I recently unearthed my Mac 512 from high school and was happy to see it still works just fine. Now I have to find out what to use it for :-D
I have fond memories of many of those electronics showcased above...mostly revealing my age. Who doesn't miss pressing play at the same time pressing record when recording from tape to tape back in the day? And I still remember my 1st word processor with fondness; many of high school reports were written out on the 5-line LED display machine.
