Delight's favorite OTHER entry: It’s so hard to choose! But "42Anderson’s Love, Eat, Party" (#22 East) took my breath away! Wow. I’m in love.

What’s your next improvement?: As a stay-at-home mom, I spend A LOT of time in the kitchen. It’s one of my favorite spots in our apartment...especially the nook where our table is located. It’s such a wonderful, quiet place to read, meditate, and drink tea. It’s kind of like my own little light-filled “cave.” Because I do spend so much time there, I’d like to make a few changes in the main part of the kitchen. I’m excited to tackle the backsplash…it will look fabulous with a mixture of different Mexican talavera tiles. I have always dreamed of doing a tile backsplash, and I finally have a great canvas to work with. I would also like to replace the countertop with something more modern. I’m excited to get started!

the decor isnt entirely my style, but i LOVE seeing a tiny apartment where you are utilizing nearly every inch for storage. and surprisingly, the decoration doesnt scream "too much", even though there is a lot going on.
i like it and get a very happy feeling from your photos. you three must be a super cute family :)
This is really lovely - I'm so happy to see a successfully put-together space that gives off such a nice "warm" feeling after so much sterile-looking design trends this year. :-)
nice place, but where's the video :(
Very cute and cozy.
Really cute and it looks like a wonderful place to chill out and read a book. I want to rip out the ceiling light though. I have that in one of the rooms of my apartment too - and everytime I look at it I think "big nipple". Which reminds me, maybe I'll go peruse Home Depot tonight...
Hi all...thanks for the comments! We have been traveling for the last 2 weeks and won't be back for another 4 weeks...so I apologize for the missing video! We're 18 hours away from our apartment right now, so I couldn't get back in time when I was notified that we were in the semi-finals.
I can't believe this is the same place having seen the before pictures on your blog! You have not only made the space functional but cozy too! The pieces you have fit together nicely - as if they were meant to be together but do not have that matchy matchy look - great job! What I also love is that there is a little something in every corner but not too much but just enough to be pleasing to the eye.
This is a bright and fun space that I could easily see anyone being in and being comfortable just hanging out. This truly is a awesome place. You make me want to do the same and feel as if it can be done.
I can't wait to see what you do with the kitchen (on your blog maybe?) and I will check back for the video.

This feels far more "family friendly" than some of the other, more sterile entries.
I would love come up for tea!
(Delight, can you do my apartment next? lol)
I really love the trays on the wall in the kitchen and that you used another to hold your spices. Such a great idea!
I love everything about this apartment! I love all the colors and the mixture of different styles. I only wish I could be a little mouse living there among the books and pink pillows. It's just happy and no matter the size, it feels like HOME.
I love your apartment and wouldn't mind living there myself! Fabulous job in making it your home!!
How many kids do you have? Where do they sleep? Play?
im so glad you made it this far, my vote really does count, sigh!
MamaChilanga...thanks for asking :) We have a 3 year old daughter who co-sleeps in our bed with us (and always has). She has a play area (as you can see in the photos...a wooden kitchen, craft table, and the toy box which doubles as a coffee table). We also have a nice yard and many parks just a few blocks away.
This is one of the few entries that actually looks lived in. It looks like a lovely and happy place to raise a family!
this is certainly a cozy, comfortable, little place. i appreciate that the aesthetic isn't co-opted from the pages of a catalogue or magazine. it is a sort of everyman's apartment--pedestrian and coarse. it is average in the best possible sense.
It just feel so warm and inviting-like because of the decor who would mind living in such a small space. The use of color is wonderful and I love all the knooks and krannies....I think you have the perfect amount of decor for the areas and it doesnt feel overwhelming at all....the best place by far!
Wow! There's a lot going one here but it works and it's homey which is nice to see in this contest. I LOVE the pot lids on the wall. That is just really cute and inventive. These are the kinds of entries that I love to see in the finals. I can tell you did this yourself and you did it well. Congrats and good luck!
FABULOUS! Soooo warm and friendly - I LOVE it! Wonderful use of space, gorgeous colors, fun decor.... makes me smile :)
I love this space. It looks warm, inviting, and completely functional. I especially love the lighting and the gorgeous rug!
Love it! I love how this is a home. You can tell a family lives here. Better still it seems it is a family that loves their home. It is personal, intentional, inventive, creative and happy. Congrats on making the finals!
i love how warm and inviting this home is.makes me just want to pop on over for a cuppa. It is very fresh and airy with color, unlike alot of sterile white apartments.
This would be the winner by far if I was judging:0)
Go delight!!
I LOVE this place! It's so warm and cozy. Out of all the semi-finalists' homes this is the only one that looks truly lived it. They have truly made it a home. I love the use of space and the colors Sara has chosen. I think this place is a winner!!!
So warm and child friendly while still seeming "grown-up"! I love that there is no major separation between kid space and adult space (though in such small quarters, how could there be?). Fabulous details abound here, especially in your hanging collections. Oh, and your big and little brooms totally made me smile!
I love love love your apartment! It looks so cute and comfortable! You utilize the space so well without making it look too crowded.
Best of luck - this is definately my favorite!!!
I love this apartment, its is my favorite one by far!!
Its so inviting, cozy, obviously very loved and very lived in! I Never would have guess how small it really is just by looking at the pictures>
This one looks like something I could actually do myself
I could actually afford this type of decorating style
Its approachable and totally accessable for us lowly average folks on a budget!!
LOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!
We have a three-year old, too! We've thought about adding to the family, but squeezing 4 into our apartment would be tight. Then again, we've got 600 sq ft. to play with, which sounds ample compared to your beautiful, cozy little nook.
birds on the wall. how...where...what?! i want to do the same.
I can tell that this would be such a great place for a child to grow up in. You must have so much fun living there together.
This place is so warm! I would love to hang out, drink coffee and read a book there.
Wow...thanks for all the kind comments everyone!
kat156...the birds are from Blik www.whatisblik.com . They have all different kinds of wall stickers. I chose the removable ones.
Even the top of your fridge is adorable? How is that possible!
I love how functional your apartment is, as well as how inviting. You have used every inch of space without making it feel crowded or stuffy. Everything in it's place and a place for everything, but playful and comfortable! The feel that real people live here and that you aren't looking at a model apartment lay out is huge, but your taste and decor make it "magazine-layout-perfect".
It is definately a home and not just rented space. :o)
I think this is utterly charming. It's quirky, vibrant, fun, homey, and inviting. So inspiring to see you making such a tiny space work for a family of three. What a happy place to raise a young child.
This home is so warm, COZY, and fun! It inspires me and makes me realize what can really be done with my small home. I'm actually going to get up and change things around right now! I LOVE this.
I love your apartment and your blog! May I ask where you got the couch and bathroom sink?
Not my style, but it's cute and cozy. I like the fact that they didn't try to make their home look like a magazine cover. That's the true sign of style (and personality, for that matter).
I go back to this tour again and again. I love knowing that a small apartment can be this beautiful and fun.
