Having a place dedicated just to primping does seem like a bit of a luxury but vanities can come in all shapes and sizes and can be just as practical as they are luxurious. If you have the space, it really is a treat to have a place to keep all your beauty essentials organized. It's also nice to have a place to sit and take your time getting dolled up, either for every day or a special occasion. If you have a strong inner diva who likes to put it on display in a big way or perhaps more of a quiet inner diva who prefers to keep things a little more tucked away, there's a vanity in this bunch that's perfect for you.

There are so many options when it comes to vanities. Of course you can buy a vanity and be done with it, but where's the originality in that? Here's some great inspiration and tips to keep in mind when shopping for your inner diva.

Double Duty: If you're a bit tight on space to have a piece dedicated as just a vanity, get a piece that can work double duty like in this space from Hunted Interior. The table acts as both a night stand as well as vanity. It can even be a small desk to write the occasional note.

Tuck it in: Another space saving tip is to get a stool that tucks right under the vanity so that it's completely out of the way when not being used. This pretty set spotted on Design Sponge is the perfect example.

Create a Throne: On the opposite note, if you really want to embrace your inner diva and enjoy every minute you spend at your vanity then consider a fabulous feature chair like this pink velvet one spotted in this Vella Interiors space.

Let the Light Shine in: There are some great vanity lights out there but if you have the right space, try and put your vanity somewhere with lots of natural light like this one spotted at Urban Outfitters. It may not always be the most forgiving but it's definitely the most realistic when trying to avoid going too heavy on the blush.

Mix & Match: A vanity is a great opportunity to mix and match new and old pieces. A large vintage mirror looks great with a modern desk like this example from Anthropologie. Try adding faux fur or changing your furniture knobs for a little extra glam.

DIY Vanity: When looking for the perfect vanity, try thinking outside the box. Desks make for great vanities but also consider making your own using dressers, which also serve as double duty in a bedroom. This large vanity featured on Style at Home is the perfect example. It looks custom but for a fraction of the cost.

Well Rounded: Go big or go home with an oversized large round mirror like this look from Marcel Wanders. It can act as both a vanity and full length mirror so you can be a diva from head to toe.

On the Wall: If you truly don't have the space for a vanity footprint, head to IKEA for a simple shelf and some vanity lights to make yourself a wall-mounted vanity that will make you feel like a modern movie-star, seen on Stylizimo.
