I originally thought I was going to do a neutral nursery. Everything I was pinning and inspired by at the time were these neutral whites and grays. However, when I went to pick out the paint I went straight to a bright mint. Maybe it was my pregnancy hormones but I should have known better, I have never had anything neutral in my life. I've never been afraid of color so why start now? At that point I didn't look back.
I gravitated toward mix & match bold patterns and bright colors. I wanted it to be very playful. I added a chalkboard wall and I hand drew a skyline in the closet. I can never tell my kid not to draw on anything seeing as how I straight up drew all over his room. My husband (with help from friends) hand-stenciled the pattern on the ceiling. I think it broke up the bright mint color, which could be overwhelming. From the DIY artwork, to making him a whole new closet from scratch, almost everything in that room was a labor of love. I hope he loves this room as much I do.
My favorite part of the room is the hot air balloons. They were used in our wedding so I love that he has part of that special day in his room. The pillow and the jack n the box were my husband’s when he was a baby. I fixed them up and added them to the room.
