The Obamas have a new puppy, whom Sasha and Malia named Bo. Senator Kennedy, who has three Portugese water dogs, gave the Obamas the black-and-white 6-month-old Portuguese water dog. Neither Michelle nor Barack Obama had pets growing up and Bo is the first pet for Sasha and Malia. The First Family is still deciding Bo's sleeping arrangements and walking and feeding schedules. Good thing the White House has lots of advisers. More info below the jump...

Bo had been living with another family (who called him Charlie) but it wasn't a good fit. The Obamas had planned to adopt a rescue dog and instead will make a donation to the D.C. Humane Society.
