We wrote about the Philips 21:9 LCD HDTV a few weeks back during CES, but it's only recently that we've been able to get a glimpse at the real deal (instead of making up some terribly rendered Photoshop rendition). Now, let's see what a true 21:9 aspect ratio television set looks like in real life, shall we? (Video included!)
At the revealing, a bed-sheet was thrown over the television to increase the drama. Nerds, embracing the subtle effect, drooled over their dSLRs and sweat poured down their faces (just kidding, these pictures are from our buddies at Cnet UK). But hey, it is pretty dramatic, no?
There you have it. As you can see, the TV itself isn't anything spectacular now that you've seen it. We're not too sure why we were expecting something completely groundbreaking either. Here's the promised video for the parties interested in seeing it in action:
