Now you'd think that only being 20 minutes late I wouldn't have missed out on all the good stuff. Little did I know that many items would only be shipping to stores in small quantities (like less than 5 pieces each), and the first shoppers in the door planned on buying everything they could (and my guess is reselling it on eBay later).
I had first attempted to avoid the store this morning completely, but there were so many eager buyers on Target's website that it was actually slammed with traffic and was shut down for quite some time. The endcaps where product should have been in the store were empty and all around, Missoni felt like a bust. The stationary was sold out, candles were sold out, all bath accessories besides a few shower curtains were sold out, personal accessories, menswear.... sold, sold, sold.
Because they launched the product on a Tuesday, there's a chance more product will roll back into stores before the weekend, but if you want to get your hands on some, I highly suggest being there when the doors open or having a friend go for you.
Just to make sure that there wasn't a crazed group of shoppers at just this one store, we hit 3 additional Targets on the way home (at which point it all started to blend together). All were just as empty, if not more so and all anyone could tell us was, "We didn't expect things to sell through so fast." Really? You didn't because I'm pretty sure the magic ball called the internet could have told you that.
My favorite pieces were the heavy glassware over with the dishes. They were substantial, not plastic like most of the rest of their serving pieces and were in the same vibe as the rest of the line throughout the store without having literal stripes and that fun chevron flavor. Did you brave the stores this morning? How was your experience? Let us know below!
