There's lots of love for Orla Kiely patterns - they just seem to hit a lighthearted note wherever they are used, from handbags to wallpaper to bedding. Well, if there is part of daily life at home that could always use a little boost of happy, I'd say that the doing dishes/clean up chore would rank right up there. I figured this little scoop of upcoming product news would be welcome; to both the die-hard Orla fans out there and anyone on cleaning duty.
I received a box in the mail yesterday from Method, with two samples (shown above) from the upcoming line. The packaging - featuring the classic, familiar rounded bottles covered in all-over colorful Orla patterns - makes for a fresh, fun look, sink side.
The collection will consist of hand wash, dish soap and all-purpose cleanser in four scents: primrose, vanilla chai, bayleaf and pear ginger. The patterns used will likely be familiar to Orla's fans; poppy meadow in pink, a multicolor acorn print, the leaf-like stem pattern in green and pears in gold.
The accompanying PR materials give "Fall 2012" as the timeframe and describe the collaboration as "limited edition" and US-only.

White Enamel Flatwa...
Fantastic! Any idea of the price of these? I'd happily pay more for glass, but I suspect these are plastic.... could they perchance be made of plastic from the Pacific garbage patch? Any information on the percentage of post-consumer plastic?
Also, look out for refill shops in San Francisco, New York, Vancouver, and Ventura. One you have containers you like from a line such as this, or the gorgeous Common Good & Co., all you'll need is high quality products to refill them with.
I WANT them.
godo question stephanie! hard to tell from the photo, but glass would be awesome, i agree!
I saw these at Target yesterday! They are plastic and I think around $4.00, at least in the Twin Cities area. Very cute.
You have no idea how excited I am to get my hands on these...
I love 'em!
love those orla kiely patterns!!
I thought the Orla Kiely method was "Have two basic ideas, reuse them ad infinitum."
Seriously, have we not yet passed the Orla Kiely peak? Is she not yet so rich that she will just stop? Has she not yet had a third pattern idea?
I picked up the pear soaps a couple days ago at Target. Made me so happy!
I've had a Method soap dispenser that I've been using for 3 or 4 years. I take it all apart (even the gray button on top of the pump mechanism) every time I need to refill it and give it a good wash. When it finally gives up the ghost, I will put it in the recycle bin.
I'm more excited about the new Method scents that the dispensers, but @stationeryfiend, there is a lot more to OK that the common patterns. There is much more diversity in the more expensive handbag lines. I've found the clothing to be well made, especially the wool coats. The site has great sales post-season.
These have been at my local Target for at least a month now. Not sure where you got the Fall 2012 date, but they've been out for most of the summer.
They are plastic, and the bottles are all shaped like the other products Method sells. They're also the same price as the other products. I would have thought they were a little more, but the dish soap, hand soap, and all purpose spray were all $2.99.
They're also available online at methodhome.com. They are 3.99 (+ shipping).
To "Stationeryfiend" believe Orla Kiely is no longer alive -- she was an original female contributor to the MCM Danish design movement. Now her name and designs are a "brand" that are licensed all over the world, that's why it seems the designs don't "change" -- they're copyrighted.
@JNJ-NYC
a quick google search will tell you that OK is indeed alive and well and owns/controls her own design company.
I love these! Wish they were glass...and that I had bought her line when she collaborated w/Target a few years back. The recent Bed Bath & Beyond bedding collabo was a disappointment.
@stephanie_says: hi there from method. our hand wash bottles are made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic and are fully recyclable and reusable. we are working on a bottle created from ocean plastic that will launch in October at Whole Foods.
we'll be doing a great Orla Kiely giveaway on our facebook page, starting august 14. make sure to check it out! www.facebook.com/method.
Also there is a $1 coupon you can print out from Target.com at the moment for these!! http://coupons.target.com/method-coupons
Has anybody found a source for a nice (pref. non-plastic) dispenser for foam soap? I make my own solution (with the big Method refill bags, actually) and feel like I waste less soap in the foaming form. I've got a stainless steel and two ceramic regular liquid soap ones (that now hold lotions or hand sanitizer), but for foam I've been reusing the same plastic Dial containers for about four years now. They're perfectly clear and inconspicuous, but they're so lightweight they bounce all over the counters. I'd like something more attractive and stable.
@VALHALLA, I've seen the rest of her range (I pass the Kilkenny Design Centre in Dublin every day on the way into work) and I still think she's just recycling the same very few ideas in different colours and on different products. I used to like them many many moons ago, but I do think enough is enough.
@JNJ-NYC, no Orla Kiely is not a deceased Dane, she is a living Irishwoman. But I think you make a good point that the lack of diversity of her designs gives the impression that she died some decades ago!
I think @JnJ-NYC confused OK with Armi Ratia of Marimekko.

Just ordered online from Soap.com with a Coupon Code from retailmenot.com I got all the products for less than $30.
