Rachel (in Denver) says:
I finally sat down last night to read Blueprint.
Um...It's ok. I got some ideas. I liked certain things...there was an article about making a kicky hobo bag out of bangles and a vintage scarf that I'll probably try. They also did a piece on enlarging things to make art. There was a room makeover that looked nice, I wouldn't mind the furniture they had....
The jury is still out, however. I was annoyed by the editor's letter, it was a little too "I I I"...and I definitely can't afford the piece they opened with: a $1700 trenchcoat...but overall, I'll probably pick up the fall issue....see where it goes. I'm deifnitely not shelling out $$ for a subscription yet though.

Mart Haste Wart has done it again -- another magazine focussed on crafty little tedious projects which neglects the importance of design.
Hold on tight to that woman, dude on cover, as she's the only signifier that you are not a total idiot who lives in a doll house.
The rubber boots and short skirt combo make this double true. What goes on behind the green door?
Oh goodie, another magazine for Martha to recycle 20 years of lame craft projects in. Yawn.
Hey, Alpha has wallpaper in Blueprint! Are copies on the newsstand already? Our wallpaper should be in the summer camp section.
Jury is still out on content, but the pics are nice - another Domino?
Which wallpaper is it Ruth? The blue woodgrain or the trees?
Either way, I really liked that article, because it made me want to have a kitchy campy girls night in, with Jon Cryer films, smores, and camp songs.
Sarah, it does feel like domino, without the stickers...and I've yet to receive my latest domino. Harrumph.
i ordered this magazine online, haven't recieved it yet, so i hope we will revisit a review in the future.
I hated this magazine. And I really wanted to love it. But it's just ads disguised as copy and no real substance. Bleh.
I want my Domino.
I do like the chairs the couple in the makeover purchased from Yellow Monkey. Has anyone been to
that antique store?
I didn't understand the whole thing about NeNe
sleeping in the dining room, and that story was
poorly written.
Martha's synergy is getting a little too much for me. When she announced the birth of her "new baby" on TV, she actually stumbled when she realized she
was about to alienate her audience by revealing Blueprint's targeted demographics.
Bought it. Won't subscribe. It's so static. If the demographic is thirtysomethings, it's missing the wit, passion, and sophistication that the thirtysomethings I know possess. I wish Budget Living had survived; it was much better.
I Loved it.
Its that Simple!
I liked the sofa guide, that was useful. But opening with a long, long story on charm bracelets??? And showcasing 50's housewife dresses? This is a fantasy I'm not interested in.
For some reason something that really bothered me was, when you look closely, you can see that the door was originally red and they Photoshopped it out. Do not manipulate me, Blueprint!
Not quite sure yet. I still don't think it will be as wonderful as domino!! I am sure they will try and copy a bit though.
I bought both Blueprint and a new similar magazine, Domino at the same time. It seems that they both are trying to appeal to the same market.
However,Blueprint gets a big thumbs down from me for the same negative comments that others have given.
Nothing very original, nothing very creative, and everything listed in it is wayyy overpriced.
Boo
And p.s. where did those 30-somethings get the money for that house on the cover?
