One of the easiest pets to own is the common betta fish. Our frilly-finned little aquatic friend, Mr. Darcy (named after the bane of all male sensibilities), currently resides inside a Wall Hanging Fishpod. But now I'm wondering if Mr. Darcy needs a summer vacation home after seeing this 3 room Fish Condo 2.0 from Realm Dekor. [via Josh Spear]

Not to be one of those PETA people but I am very against keeping those poor Betas in those small bowls. Would you want to be locked up in a 6x6 room?

but aren't these like those buble vase things? we used to sell them at the home furnishing store where i used to work.
it's still a confining, sterile, artifical environment for a living, feeling creature.

(yeah, yeah, yeah ... p2 and everybody else ready to call hypocrite on me: i don't eat, wear or sit on animal parts, ok? even if i did, my opinion would still be worthy.)
I do eat meat but I wouldn't lock any living creature in a very small container for decoration. It's like keeping a bird in a cage - except they don't fly, they swim.
I'm also not a PETA person, but these small bowls seem very cruel.
I have a betta fish, and I keep it in a very large bowl.
Bettas can easily live in a tank with many other tropical fish, just not with another (male?) betta.
Get a 10 gallon tank with a betta and some other small colorful fish and an algae eater. Warning, fish people say that goldfish actually need about 10 gallons each.
For the proper MCM fab feel, your 10 gallon aquarium needs a kissing gourami or two. Happy, friendly, lightly algae-controlling, and kitschy, all in one finny package!
