This is not for people with small children, but it is for those of you who, like us, give our coffee tables a beating:
Seems we're always placing drinks on our coffee table, which leaves watermarks over time. We eat more meals than we'd like to admit there, which leaves it messy sometimes. And we work at it often, meaning food and drink are never far from the coffee table's surface. This has left our painted wood table a little worn. What would hold up to our excessive use? Concrete!
Watch out, shins, these are five cool concrete coffee tables that would hold up to the wear and tear:
- Couchtisch Les by Karacho & Bros.
- Concrete Coffee Table, Restoration Hardware
- Concrete Coffee Table by Jeremy Kaplan
- Mobius Coffee Table, custom, made of Trueform Concrete
- Parsons Coffee Table with Concrete Top, Lofgrens (this one's only $629!)
Like some of these but don't want to have the budget for a custom table? Custom make your own! Concrete is a material many people can use for DIY and you can design it to suit yourself! Added bonus: sprawl out on one in the heat of summer to stay cool!

Love these tables -- especially Parsons. What an innovative idea that can be affordable with the durability of concrete.
the first one looks like DIY, and not in a good way. Too heavy and cheap looking.
The rest are pretty cool
Let me add a few more-
How about a tufted one-

Love this idea!
When did concrete become so pretty? Or why was it ever considered ugly? (oh yeah, the 1970's). So glad its back on track. Love the texture and the soft gray. martine x
I love the element table at CB2:

$399 is enough though that I think I'd try making one before I'd buy it.
these actually seem perfect for a family with small kids--practically indestructible. Children don't have to live in rubber rooms to not injure themselves.
Love. I have small children and would be much less likely to cringe when they spilled on concrete than wood. And, crayons might look kind of cute all over it. Any diy links?
Here is a pretty good DIY
DIY concrete table
I actually have that CB2 Element table. I absolutely LOVE it. I also love how it petinas over time - it's gets darker and more interesting.
Totally a fan of the concrete-type materials.
It's great that you brought attention to that inexpensive one from Lofgrens, but when I actually go to their site and look, there's a note that says, "Due to size and weight, concrete topped tables cannot be shipped interstate."
So, that option is basically only available to people who live in Utah. Bummer.
For someone like me who is a total klutz I would pass on these. They look lovely but I would stub my toe or bash my shin into them.
eric billig of austin texas makes amazing furniture out of concrete. his concrete benches actually look like fabric from far away!
That first photo makes my floor joists groan.
The first one reminds me of a sarcophagus.
I like the others and the concept is great, but it wouldn't be practical for me either. I don't long for the days of skinned knees to come back around.
Think of how cool it would feel to place your feet on one in the summer... aaahhh.
