5 Comfortable Armchairs for a Home Theater

Pin it button big

Too often comfort and style aren't synonymous — the "pleather" recliner is the ultimate proof. There's basically no chair more comfortable than the classic recliner for movie marathons, but these five chairs have plush bottoms and a little bit more of something dad's recliner didn't: style.

Here are five chairs that are both comfortable and stylish.

Five Decor Friendly Armchairs For Home Theater1. West Elm's Sedgwick Recliner ($699)

This chair will surprise you. It looks very rigid, but the back is actually very plush and soft, and the arms are just the right height for leaning into the corners.

2. La-Z-Boy Emerson Low Profile Recliner in Sterling ($1,099)

I admit it. La-Z-Boy has actually come a really long way when it comes to recliners. Sure, you'll still find those old classics in their stores, but you'll also find chairs like the Emerson, which come in lots of great modern patterns and features more solid lines.

Five Decor Friendly Armchairs For Home Theater3. Design Within Reach's Milo Baugham Leather Recliner ($3,100)

This DWR chair doesn't even look like a recliner. It tricks you into thinking it's just a stylish arm chair and then BAM! it reclines. The leather is the softest around, and you know it will last forever.

4. The Joya Rocker at The Land of Nod ($995)

I'm a big fan of rocking chairs and gliders, but they too are often less than stellar to look at. I'm also a big believer in rockers for movie marathons. In fact, a rocker is my chair of choice at home because it's soft, comfortable and best enjoyed with an ottoman nearby, which conveniently also serves as landing pad for popcorn.

Five Decor Friendly Armchairs For Home Theater5. Pottery Barn's Manhattan Leather Recliner ($1,999)

This is what my boyfriend would call a "man chair." Soft leather, big arms and a deep seat. It's not for everyone, but it's a nice happy medium for couples seeking a more classic look with plenty of comfort too.
