The fewer people checking out the daily deals on designers from Kate Spade to Artecnica, the better... that way the items we're coveting won't sell out so quickly. Here are a few items we've currently got our eyes on, but if you're interested, you'd better hurry - the sales events only last for about three days, and items sell out fast.
- Quilts from Denyse Schmidt from $119 to $199
- Second Shadow Morning Garden halogen light by Tord Boontje from Artecnica for $79
- Set of Three Starlightz from Artiecnica for $19
- Perry Street Clock from Kate Spade for $25
- STRiDA Folding Bike for $500
All available now at One Kings Lane.

I love my Strida 5.0 - but the price on that one pictured (a 3.2) seems a bit high...
...I bought my 5.0 from a retailer via eBay for @ $600, (DWR was selling them for $650 a couple weeks back - regularly $800) and 3.2's are available on eBay for far less.
I ordered from One Kings Lane and the lamp was a piece of crap. total and utter crap. I am still waiting for the return authorization, I've called 3 times and each time they tell me they are trying to contact the supplier. I highly doubt I will ever order from them again.
FYI, her name is Denyse Schmidt.
larchgirl did you buy those Good Wood lamps from the Two's Company event? I did and they suck. Not wood at all but poorly applied wood like surface. Yuk! I may return them and apparently I was not the only unhappy person. It was my first purchase and I am unhappy that they would sell such a poor quality item with (normally) a no return policy, though they seem amenable to me returning them.
I bought two "Good Wood" lamps during the Two's Company event, and they are terrible. Not wood, and a poorly executed wood like finish on the surface. I am hesitant to make another purchase, though they seem to be amenable to my returning the lamps, even though they had a no return policy, I expect I was not the only unhappy purchaser. larchgirl were these the lamps you bought?
Oops double post! Sorry the first one disappeared.
What does everyone think about One Kings Lane as a concept? (apart from the thumbs up/down on merchandise). It seems seriously geared toward impulse buying, which means it should be fairly profitable as the economy picks up again (don't I sound hopeful?), just wondering what people think about this sort of sample sale online - and - where items are available for a limited time (a colleague and I are thinking of starting something similar but aimed at a different market segment). Would appreciate any constructive thoughts.
As for pricing, I agree, I've shopped around and found things cheaper quite often but there are a few items they've had that I thought were spectacular deals.
@marid22 -- I had been pining after those lamps, but couldn't think of good place to put them so I passed. I'm glad to know I didn't miss anything!
I did purchase the Kate Spade clock yesterday, after seeing the yellow version on a previous AT post. I joined One Kings Lane about a month ago, and that was my first purchase.
Hi All,
I am one of the founders of One Kings Lane. Our mission is to offer our members fabulous product at great prices. For those of you that received the lamp and were not satisfied please email me at susan@onekingslane.co. I will take care of making sure you can return the lamp and get a credit. If anyone else has any comments of feedback I would love to hear from you. We are only 3 months young and off to a fantastic start but working very diligently to improve the site everyday. Thanks for shopping on One Kings Lane.
best, Susan
To Whom this may concern,
I am writing to let you know that I am furious to discover that what I thought was a great service -- limited quantities of overstock at a deeply discounted price -- is merely a sham. Today I ordered the Henckles knife set (see order confirmation below), only to discover that the same set is offered on Amazon.com for $199.00 with free shipping. $52.95 less, or fully 25% less than what I paid you.

I want you to know that I will never recommend your site to anyone, I will never purchase from you again, and I will actively post about my experience on every design blog I can find, especially Apartment Therapy, where I first read about your site.
You're just a rip-off with a fancy wrapper. Thanks for nothing.
SINCERELY,
-Kim Grant
Follow up: One King's Lane agreed to cancel my order.
I too am extremely disappointed with One Kings Lane. I bought two runner rugs from them (about $100 each). At that "discounted price" with a no return policy, I naively thought they would be decent. Instead both are extremely poor quality and one of them is so faded around the edges that I'm embarressed to use it anywhere in my apartment. It appears to have been used as a display in a store and is worse for the wear. I will never order from them again.
I'm curious whether AT has some sort of business/personal connection to OKL. Why are they constantly promoting a business with whom so many have had bad experiences?
Hey Ladies!
I'm a member of Ideeli, and a few other similar discount sites... I have found better prices on amazon.com for all of them - HOWEVER - I never would have found any of the items without the discount site...
All this to say - is wherever you find the best price, buy there... But this is a very cool jumping off point - for some cool items.
(I'm not happy to hear about the faded rugs though - It's bad form not to talk about the condition of the items.)
Let the buyer beware! And Good luck, One King's Lane! It's a cool idea... I trust you can work it out.
This is a little delayed, but I want others to be aware of the terrible experience I've had in attempting to return something from One King's Lane.
Initially, I thought their's was a great concept. I had purchased many things from them in the past. Sometimes the quality was not what I had hoped, but I chalked it up to buying online.
In August, I ordered a white ceramic garden stool. I received a green one. Although the item was marked "final sale," OKL agreed to give me a full refund.
It took nearly two weeks and multiple emails from me to get the return shipping label they had promised. When I finally rec'd the label, I shipped the item the very next day. Nine days later, I still had not rec'd credit.
After many more emails to them, I was told that my account had been credited (it had not) and that I should contact my credit card company. The credit card company needed a transaction number. OKL was unable to provide one.
After nearly six weeks of trying to return this item, I have filed a dispute with my credit card company. OKL customer service has been responsive to my inquiries, and I have been more than patient. However, they do not deliver on what they say (i.e. sending the label and reversing the charge in a timely manner as they had promised).
I do not have time to chase them for six + weeks if I need to return something. Thus, I do not plan to order from them again.
Gilt does a far superior job on their returns.
I was puzzled to see an exact duplicate of my mahogany pie crust table - minus the handpainted dog on the top - on the One Kings Lane website selling for a couple thousand dollars "marked down from $3,800".
I paid $400 for mine in an antique store in NC.
Buyer beware! Months after placing order and I still haven't received it. Very unresponsive customer service.
OKL has the some of the worst customer service I've ever encountered.
Long story short, I placed an order with them and they sent me the wrong item. I alerted them the same day I received the package. It took 7 days, 4 emails and 3 phone calls before they even took any steps to send me the correct item I ordered.
They customer service reps did not show an sense of urgency or behave proactively. I had to hunt them down and jump through hoops to get a prepaid shipping label and schedule fedex pick up for the return of the incorrect item and a refund on my original shipping charges. No one at OKL took ownership for the mistake- they kept passing the blame to their "vendor".
I was so disgusted with the experience that I wrote letters of complaint to their founders Susan Feldman and Alison Pincus as well as their CEO Doug Mack. So far they have not give me any satisfactory response so i will also be filing a compliant with the BBB.
I will never shop at OKL again and strongly suggest others stay away as well.
I question how well OneKL vets their vendors?
I bought a Turkish rug in a rug sale a few months ago and was told that the item was no longer available. Why sell stock that may or may not be able to be delivered. As far as I am concerned if a vendor is selling on onekingslane they should be holding out in good faith that they actually hold and will hold that stock.
I recently ordered six items from One Kings Lane. Five out of the six items had damage. Of course they were not returnable. I contacted customer service and after submitting proof of the damage was given a measly 10% discount. I will not shop there in the future. Please be aware.
I just wanted to post an update to my last comment from 8/31/11. I discovered that OKL has gone ahead and without notifying me, deactivated my account on their website. This is fine with me because I would never even consider purchasing from this joke of a company again, however, I find it shady that this is how OKL deals with customers who make legitimate complaints: get rid of them. I think that pretty much says it all about OKL customer service. I am assuming they did this because I have been very vocal about my disgust with the company.
Now I am concerned. I made several orders within a 3 week time. I have not heard of any of those said seperate transactions to have been shipped. Grr! I have paid strictly with PayPal and I should probably lodge a complaint of non-shipment of item. Terrible having to wait so long for an item to ship, correct?
one kings lane, haute look and others are a total rip off! i am buying for a holistic store that i am opening and so scour the online sales daily. haute look had a chair advertised for $139.00, with a 300.00 savings! the same chair is on amazon full price for 150$. if you google, most of the 'name brands' on these sites you won't find anything. much of the stuff circulates from haute look, to one kings lane, to gilt under different brand names, and different prices! total scams! i'm so sad.
All right. I purchased a gilt and glass side table from OKL and it was delivered a few days ago.
It arrived in perfect condition, and it is a heavy, quality piece. I am very pleased with it and the delivery. Had to say something in defense of this site and I would not hesitate to purchase from it again.
I just purchased an expensive rug from One Kings Lane during their Thanksgiving Day sale and they sent the wrong rug with no apologies, just telling me to return it and they have no other rug to compensate like the one that I actually ordered and was promised!! Really disappointed in the company, their warehouse facilitator and customer service are lacking. Beware!!!!!
