Charcoal is the Pavlovian scent of summer. These little briquette burners let you get your fix and your dinner wherever you may be. Including that tiny little balcony.

Direct Designs' Notebook folds and carries easier than your laptop, and pops up a 192-square inch cooking surface.

Evoking Jiffy Pop memories, superdesigners Sagaform create a simple griller that's 10.5 x 10.5. Pack, tote, party.

The original gets a twist of green with Crate & Barrel's exclusive Weber Smokey Joe

Reminiscent of a mid-century cake stand, this baby cooks ˆ or bakes, roasts or smokes. Just 8-10 briquettes gives 3 hours of heat. Wildly well-reviewed, it even fits a whole chicken. The manufacturer breaks down the endless possibilities but Campmor sells it cheaper.
The fanciest of the lot, this lovely thing comes with wooden trivet so you can cook right on the table, and serve in its porcelain bowl. By Eva Solo, we found it for a relative steal online at A+R store.

I have the Direct Designs Notebook grill, but in solid stainless steel, purchased from HomeGoods for a whole whopping $8 Great little grill, perfect for travel and camping.
Your opener image isn't loading for me...
i love that grill too Daily Nuance - that is an amazing deal too!!!
Does anyone know where to find small modern grills that mount on a balcony railing (hanging outward)? I was thinking of digging around marine supply stores but thought I'd check here first.
I watched the Cobb video on their website and it looks to be the best one. It cooks like a convection oven. I'll need to find this in Toronto.
The Cobb is so efficient - I love charcoal and having to use only 8 to 10 briquettes is fantastic!!! A saw another portable grill online that caught my interest: the toolbox grill. Does anyone know if that is a good choice for grill-on-the-go?
